SARS-CoV-2 2.0

The second generation of GenomEra SARS-CoV-2 2.0 Assay Kit takes the usability and sensitivity to a new level. The assay provides fast and reliable detection of SARS-CoV-2 using RT-PCR, the golden standard for COVID-19 diagnostics. The easy-to-use GenomEra platform combines the simplicity of rapid testing and the superior sensitivity of PCR methods in one reliable system. 

The GenomEra SARS-CoV-2 2.0 is a rapid and highly sensitive multiplex RT-qPCR test for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 from respiratory samples. Only a short and simple sample preparation is needed, after which the assay is fully automated and the qualitative result will be automatically interpreted with Ct values after 50 minutes. Due to the simplicity of the system, no prior experience in PCR nor dedicated PCR facilities are required. 

The assay is compatible with a wide range of commercial sample collection media available, including inactivating media. If the sample is collected to an inactivating media, it allows safe handling of the sample without the need for extensive biosafety measures and minimizes the hands-on time. Additionally, the new assay includes an integrated sample processing control targeting a specific human housekeeping gene mRNA.

MATERIALS

PREPARATION OF THE COLUMN

Make a small marking to the cap of the extraction column.
Place the column into a Waste Collection Tube. Punch a hole through the cap of the column.
Lift the cap puncher and mix the column by tapping it.
Break off the bottom closure of the column.
Place the column into the Waste Collection Tube and detach the Cap Puncher. (Note: if the cap puncher is not used, loosen the cap ½ turn.)
Place the columns into the centrifuge with marking facing the outer rim of the rotor. Centrifuge for 1 minute at 1000 x g.
Discard the Waste Tube and place the column to a Sample Elution Tube.

PREPARATION OF A PATIENT SAMPLE IN LYSING (eNAT) MEDIUM

Pipet 90µL of sample onto the center of the column through the hole (or open the cap)
Place the columns into the centrifuge with markings facing the outer rim of the rotor. Centrifuge for 1 minute at 1000 x g. (Or cap ½ turn loosened if puncher was not used.)
Pipette 35 µL of the flow-through (viral RNA) to GenomEra Test Chip and start the assay.

PREPARATION OF A PATIENT SAMPLE IN OTHER MEDIUM

MIx the sample and Copan eNAT 1:1, let stand for at least 1 min and vortex.

Pipet 90 µL of sample onto the center of the column.
Place the columns into the centrifuge with markings facing the outer rim of the rotor. Centrifuge for 1 minute at 1000 x g. (Or cap ½ turn loosened if puncher was not used.)
Pipette 35 µL of the flow-through (viral RNA) to GenomEra Test Chip and start the assay.
